Cash is a young man with wander lust....and it has landed him in the shelter - sadly more than once. He has raised his right paw and now promised to mend his ways and will never stray again. We plan to hold him to this! Cash is a sweetie. Because of his size and energy level, we recommend a home with older children. What a boy! So much potential! Cash is settling into his foster home right now. He has the company of great human companions, some dogs and a few cats, too. He should not be lonely. Please contact us for more information about Cash -- and arrange to meet him.
Update: Cash is housebroken <no accidents> and sleeps in the crate all night when tucked away with a peanut butter kong but does start whining when he hears people in the am. He is a lover-boy! No bedding in the crate with him! He has stolen a few sofa pillows but has not chewed them because we've been close by. Personality-wise he's all puppy in many ways and a lot of fun...he and Laicha LOVE to run and chase each other!
3/21/12 Update - Cash is enjoying himself in his foster home! He gets along well with the other dogs in the house and chases but is able to be called off of the cats: he'll need to learn that any cats in his new home are not playtoys! Cash is very attached to 'his' people. He loves to cuddle next to his foster dad and has graduated from the crate to sleeping in the bedroom with two of his dog foster siblings at night. Cash becomes fairly distressed when the humans leave and barks/whines for quite a while according to the neighbors: his foster parents are working on this but an apartment setting might not be the best for him right now.
Update: 11/7/12: Cash is a great dog! A friendly and sweet boy, fairly low on the activity spectrum, (he loves to cuddle), and is best buddies with his foster dad -- (he is attached at the hip as a matter of fact)! Cash does have some minor “special behaviors”, but nothing that cannot be addressed and successfully worked out by a patient and understanding owner.
He is not okay with most cats - it does depend.
He has some issues with some cats – not all; it would definitely depend on the cat.
Cash will try to mouth and is corrected...he needs a fairly firm correction and often needs to be corrected several times as he can be persistent.
Cash can be dominant..
Small dogs may or may not be an issue. He may fixate and “stare” and would have to be watched and monitored.
He is fine with our, (foster’s) dogs, but can get carried away in play which can lead to a skirmish if we don’t step in immediately. He does not seem to respond well to the “leave me alone” signals from the other dogs and we then will step in and give him a brief time out in a crate.
He does have separation anxiety.
He does not handle being left alone crated. He will try to escape (and has) to the point of injuring himself. He is fine by himself loose in the home.
Cash will need an experienced, dog-saavy owner or owners, and a patient and an understanding home. He definitely needs to be in regular training and would do well with another large dog who can tolerate his periods of exuberance without becoming quickly annoyed. Cash definitely loves his “people”, and in the right home would be a loving and loyal companion.
